Se Emmy-priserne 2024: Historisk sejr til populær samurai-serie

I nat løb den prestigefyldte Emmy-uddeling af stablen – streamingverdenens svar på Oscar-uddelingen.

Aftenens store vinder var samurai-serien ‘Shōgun’, som satte en ny rekord ved at hente intet mindre end 18 statuetter hjem. Med sine mange priser overgår 'Shōgun‘ den tidligere rekordholder, ‘John Adams’, som i 2008 vandt 13 Emmys.

Serien, der er baseret på bogen af samme navn, foregår i 1600-tallets Japan og følger en episk fortælling om samuraier. 

Blandt de mest markante sejre for ‘Shōgun’ var Bedste dramaserie, Bedste mandlige hovedrolle til Hiroyuki Sanada, Bedste kvindelige hovedrolle til Anna Sawai, og Bedste instruktør til Frederick E.O. Toye. Deruddover sikrede serien sig også hele 13 tekniske priser. 

Med cirka 70% af dialogen på japansk markerer serien en milepæl for ikke-engelsksprogede produktioner og deres chancer for success ved amerikanske prisuddelinger. 

Selvom ‘Shōgun’ dominerede aftenen, var der også plads til andre serier at stråle.

‘The Bear’, serien hvor den tidligere Noma-kok Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) overtager sin afdøde brors skrantende sandwich-restaurant i Chicago, landede på en flot andenplads med 11 Emmys.

Hovedrolleindehaver Jeremy Allen White vandt bl.a. sin anden Emmy i træk som Bedste mandlige skuespiller i en komedie, mens medskuespillerinden Ayo Edebiri tog prisen for Bedste kvindelige birolle i samme kategori – også for andet år i træk.

Andre store vindere inkluderede Netflix-hittet ‘Baby Reindeer’, som løb med prisen for Bedste miniserie, samt priser til Richard Gadd og Jessica Gunning for henholdsvis Bedste mandlige hovedrolle og Bedste kvindelige birolle i førnævnte kategori.

Det blev også til en historisk aften til veteranen Jodie Foster, der vandt sin første Emmy for Bedste kvindelige hovedrolle i en miniserie for sin intense præstation som kriminaldetektiven Liz Danvers i ‘True Detective: Night Country’.

Dermed er Jodie Foster, som er to gange Oscar-vinder, nu ét skridt tættere på at blive medlem af den eksklusive EGOT-klub. En ære, der kun tilfalder dem, der har vundet en Emmy, Grammy, Oscar og Tony.
