Årets Oscar-vindere
'Slumdog Millionaire' blev dette års store vinder med 8 priser på en vellykket Oscar-aften.
Filmen, om en dreng der deltager i den indiske udgave af 'Hvem vil være millionær?', vandt for både Bedste film og Bedste instruktion, og den herboende fotograf Anthony Dod Mantle vandt prisen for Bedste fotografering.
Kate Winslet vandt for Bedste kvindelige hovedrolle i 'The Reader', og Sean Penn vandt prisen for Bedste mandlige hovedrolle for sin præstation i 'Milk'.
Prisen for Bedste mandlige birolle gik som ventet til Heath Ledger for sit portræt af The Joker i 'The Dark Knight', imens Penelope Cruz hev prisen hjem for sin rolle i 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'.
Aftenens store taber blev 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' der på trods af hele 13 nomineringer måtte nøjes med tre oscars (Bedste art direction, Bedste make up, Bedste visual effects).
Den største overraskelse var, at japanske 'Departures' snuppede prisen for Bedste udenlandske film for næsen af både Klassen og Waltz with Bashir.
Hugh Jackman styrede slagets gang og var særdeles oplagt i sin første, men formentlig ikke sidste, rolle som Oscar-vært.
